About Philodromus dispar Walckenaer, 1826

Philodromus dispar, formally described as Philodromus dispar Walckenaer, 1826, is a philodromid crab spider that lives on trees and bushes. It is an agile hunter that does not build webs to catch prey. Instead, it stays stationary in ambush and waits for prey to approach close enough to attack. This spider reaches around 5 millimeters in length, and feeds on flies and other insects. Females of this species vary in both size and color. Males are shiny and iridescent, with a black or dark brown body marked by white edges.
