About Philodendron pedatum (Hook.) Kunth
Philodendron pedatum (Hook.) Kunth is a plant species belonging to the genus Philodendron. It is native to South America, where its natural range extends from Colombia to southeast Brazil. This species grows in wet tropical forests, and like many other members of the Philodendron genus, it has a climbing growth habit. It is commonly called the oak leaf philodendron, and its leaves are lobed. The shape of its foliage changes as the plant matures: leaves grow larger and develop more lateral lobes over time. A number of named varieties of this species are grown in cultivation, including the cultivar 'Glad Hands'. It is also one of the parent plants of the hybrid Philodendron × 'Florida', along with the related species Philodendron squamiferum.
