About Phillyrea angustifolia L.

Phillyrea angustifolia, commonly known as narrow-leaved mock privet, is a flowering plant species in the olive family Oleaceae. It is native to the western and central Mediterranean region. This plant is an evergreen shrub, with simple, entire, leathery, dark green leaves that are arranged oppositely along its stems. Scented creamy-white flowers grow from the leaf axils during spring and summer; after flowering, the plant produces purplish black berries. The genus name Phillyrea comes from Greek and translates to 'leafy', while the specific epithet angustifolia means 'narrow-leaved'.
