About Philhelius pedissequum (Harris, 1778)

Philhelius pedissequum can reach a body length of 10–13 millimetres (0.39–0.51 in), with a wing length ranging from 7.25 to 9.75 mm. These hoverflies have a black body. The thorax features two yellow lateral stripes, and yellow markings are present on the second through fifth tergites. The pair of markings on the second tergite is wedge-shaped and considerably wide. This is an uncommon species. It can be found across most of Europe, Western Siberia, the Near East, and North Africa. It typically inhabits grassland and open fields located near deciduous forest.
