About Phidiana militaris (Alder & Hancock, 1864)

Phidiana militaris is a species of sea slug. It is classified as an aeolid nudibranch, which is a type of marine gastropod mollusc in the family Aeolidiidae. This species was first described from specimens collected in India. It has also been reported from Oman, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Thailand, Borneo, and the Philippines. In 2016, three specimens of Phidiana militaris were observed feeding on hydroids growing on a sunken submarine in Haifa Bay, off the coast of Israel. It is likely that this species reached the Mediterranean Sea as a Lessepsian migrant, moving through the Suez Canal from the Red Sea.
