About Pharmacophagus antenor (Drury, 1773)
Pharmacophagus antenor, commonly known as the Madagascar giant swallowtail, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Papilionidae. As its common name suggests, this is a large butterfly with a wingspan ranging from 12 to 14 centimeters. This species is endemic to Madagascar, and it is the only species classified in the genus Pharmacophagus. Its caterpillar larvae feed on Aristolochia acuminata and Quisqualis grandidieri.
