This moth occurs primarily in mountainous regions, with most populations located in the Alps and the Carpathian Mountains, and it can also be found in Hungary. Females have a wingspan ranging from 32 to 44 mm, while males have a wingspan ranging from 25 to 34 mm. Adult moths fly in a single generation each year from June to August. The larvae of this species feed on the roots of a variety of grass species.
