Phaloesia is a monotypic tiger moth genus that belongs to the family Erebidae. The only species in this genus is Phaloesia saucia, commonly known as the saucy beauty moth. Both the genus and the species were first formally described by Francis Walker in 1854. This species has a distribution range from the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas in the United States, down to Venezuela. Adult moths can be seen in flight nearly year-round. Adult Phaloesia saucia have been observed feeding on nectar from three plant species: Chromolaena odorata, Aloysia gratissima, and Sabal mexicana. The larvae of this moth feed on plants from the Tournefortia genus, including the species Tournefortia volubilis.
