About Phalloceros caudimaculatus (Hensel, 1868)

Phalloceros caudimaculatus, commonly called the dusky millions fish, is also known by the common names caudo, leopardfish, and one-spot livebearer. This fish species is native to eastern and southern Brazil, northern Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. It has been introduced to Australia, Malawi, and New Zealand, both intentionally for mosquito control and accidentally as escapees from the aquarium trade. It has been recorded to cause negative ecological impacts in regions where it has been introduced. Females of this species reach a total length of 6 centimetres (2.4 inches), while males grow to a smaller size.
