Phaeoptilum spinosum, commonly known as brittle thorn, is a shrub that grows in central Namibia. It is the only species classified within the genus Phaeoptilum. This shrub is a valuable drought-resistant fodder plant, and its foliage is browsed by goats and kudu. It produces red, winged fruits during the month of October.
