Phacelia viscida is an annual herb that grows erect, reaching a maximum height of around 70 centimeters. This species is glandular and sticky, and is covered with a mixture of soft and stiff hairs. Its leaves have oval, toothed blades that grow on petioles. The inflorescence is hairy and glandular, forming a curving cyme that holds five-lobed flowers. Each flower can grow up to 2 centimeters wide, and can range in color from nearly white to deep blue, with a paler, mottled center. The five protruding stamens are each tipped with a white anther.
