About Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth.
Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth. is an annual erect plant that reaches a maximum height of around 100 cm (40 inches), and grows with zero to a few branches. Wild-type plants are glandular, and covered in short stiff hairs. Leaves measure 20 to 200 mm (1 to 8 inches), and are mostly divided into smaller leaflets. These leaflets are deeply and intricately cut into toothed lobes, giving the leaves a lacy appearance. The plant's dense, hairy inflorescence is a one-sided, curving or coiling cyme that holds bell-shaped flowers in blue and lavender shades. Each flower is just under one centimeter long, and has protruding whiskery stamens. Its seeds are negatively photoblastic, also called photodormant, and will only germinate in darkness.
