About Phacelia pachyphylla A.Gray
Phacelia pachyphylla, a species of phacelia, is commonly known as blacktack phacelia. It is native to the deserts of California and Baja California, growing in sandy alkali flats and scrub. This annual herb grows upright to a maximum height of around 17 centimeters. Its texture is glandular, with hairs tipped by bulbous glands. Most of its leaves are arranged around the base of the stem, with crinkly or wavy-edged rounded blades growing on petioles a few centimeters long. The hairy inflorescence is a one-sided curving or coiling cyme made up of funnel- or bell-shaped flowers. Each flower is roughly half a centimeter long and light purple in color.
