About Phacelia neglecta M.E.Jones
Phacelia neglecta M.E.Jones is a species of flowering plant in the Hydrophyllaceae family. It is commonly known as alkali phacelia and neglected scorpionweed. This plant is native to desert regions of the southwestern United States, specifically Nevada, Arizona, and southeastern California, where it grows in a variety of desert habitats including areas with alkali soils. Its distribution may also extend into Baja California. It is a mostly erect annual herb that produces a small, largely unbranched stem that grows up to around 20 centimeters tall. The entire plant is thinly covered in glandular hairs. Most of its leaves are arranged around the base of the stem, and have round, crinkly or wavy-edged blades that attach to petioles a few centimeters long. The plant's inflorescence is hairy and glandular, forming a one-sided curving or coiling cyme that holds funnel- or bell-shaped flowers. Each flower is roughly half a centimeter long and ranges in color from white to cream.
