About Phacelia fremontii Torr.
Scientific name: Phacelia fremontii Torr.
Phacelia fremontii is an aromatic annual plant. It produces a branching stem that can be decumbent or erect, growing up to 30 centimeters long. The whole plant is hairy, and becomes glandular toward the inflorescence.
Its leaves, which measure 15–50 millimeters (0.6–2.0 inches) in length, are deeply lobed or divided into rounded leaflets. The calyx lobes are 3–5 millimeters (0.12–0.20 inches) long, shaped linear to oblanceolate, and covered in short glandular hairs.
The flower has a funnel- or bell-shaped corolla that reaches 1.5 to 2 centimeters long. The corolla is blue, pink, or purple, with a yellow throat. This species grows on sandy or gravelly soils across several habitat types, including scrub and grassland.
