About Phacelia coerulea Greene

Phacelia coerulea is a species of phacelia that goes by the common name skyblue phacelia. It is native to California, the Southwestern United States, and northern Mexico, where it grows in desert and plateau habitat types, including scrub and woodland. It is an annual herb that grows mostly upright, reaching a maximum height of around 40 centimeters. Its stem, which may be branched or unbranched, is covered in a mix of soft and coarse hairs. Its oblong leaves are a few centimeters long, and typically have rounded lobes along their edges. Its hairy inflorescence is a one-sided curving or coiling cyme that holds many flowers. The bell-shaped flowers are light blue or purple, and are no more than half a centimeter wide.
