Phacelia campanularia A.Gray is an annual herb with an erect stem that reaches a maximum height of 0.7 meters (2.3 feet). The entire plant is covered in glandular hairs. Its leaf blades are somewhat rounded with toothed edges. The inflorescence is a loose cyme of flowers. The flower has a bright blue corolla up to 4 centimeters long, which can be bell-shaped, funnel-shaped, or round and flattened. The flower throat may have white spots. The protruding stamens and style can grow up to 4.5 centimeters long. The fruit is a capsule that reaches a maximum length of 1.5 centimeters. This plant grows in dry, sandy areas located below 1,200 meters (4,000 feet) in elevation.
