About Phacelia breweri A.Gray
Phacelia breweri A.Gray is a branching annual herb that either grows in a spreading form or upright, reaching a maximum height of around 45 centimeters. The plant is glandular and covered in a mix of soft and coarse hairs. Its leaves are lance-shaped or oval, growing up to 4 centimeters long, with the lower leaves being lobed. The hairy inflorescence is a crowded, one-sided cyme that curves or coils, holding many bell-shaped flowers. Each flower is roughly half a centimeter wide and pale light blue in color. This species blooms from March to June. Phacelia breweri is endemic to northern California, found in the San Francisco Bay Area and regions south of it. It is native to the California Coast Ranges at elevations below 1,400 meters (4,600 feet), occurring primarily in the Diablo Range and Gabilan Mountains. It grows as a component of native flora in chaparral and oak woodland habitats.
