Petunia axillaris (Lam.) Britton, Sterns & Poggenb., commonly called large white petunia, wild white petunia, or white moon petunia, is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the genus Petunia within the Solanaceae family. It is native to temperate regions of South America, including southern Brazil, parts of Argentina, and Uruguay. This species produces the only white flowers found in the entire Petunia genus, and these flowers measure between 3 and 7 cm in length. The popular garden petunia that is widely grown today is a hybrid between P. axillaris and P. integrifolia.
