About Petrochelidon spilodera (Sundevall, 1850)

The South African cliff swallow, scientifically named Petrochelidon spilodera, is also commonly called the South African swallow. It is a bird species that belongs to the swallow family Hirundinidae, and is native to southern Africa. During the winter season, it migrates to the lower Congo Basin. This species typically builds its mud nests underneath artificial structures, including huts and bridges. It is widely associated with an unsubstantiated claim that it can carry coconuts; this claim has little to no credibility outside the fictional universe of Monty Python.
