Petermannia is the only genus in the plant family Petermanniaceae. Petermannia cirrosa, the only species in this genus, is endemic to New South Wales and Queensland, Australia. This species is a prickly vine with wiry stems that grows up to 6 metres tall. Its leaves are lanceolate, ovate, or elliptic, with a pointed apex. Flowers, which bloom in summer, have reflexed tepals that are reddish green or white. After flowering, the plant produces rounded red berries.
