Persicaria glabra (Willd.) M.Gómez is visually similar in appearance to two related species: Persicaria longiseta and Persicaria lapathifolia. This species is a medium-sized annual herb. It has red, swollen stem joints and lanceolate-shaped leaves. Its inflorescence is a dense raceme made up of small pink or white flowers. The fruit it produces is a flattened black nut.
