About Persicaria filiformis (Thunb.) Nakai

Persicaria filiformis is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Polygonaceae. It is native to the Kuril Islands, Japan (including the Ryukyu Islands), Korea, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam. In 1784, Carl Thunberg first described this species under the name Polygonum filiforme. In 1819, Takenoshin Nakai transferred the species to the genus Persicaria. This species has previously been classified as the variety filiformis of Persicaria virginiana, a North American species. Its leaves are light green and elliptical, reaching approximately 15 cm (5.9 in) in length. Most (but not all) leaves have a pair of brown markings near their center.
