About Persicaria barbata (L.) H.Hara
Persicaria barbata, commonly called bearded knotweed, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Polygonaceae family. It is native to the Arabian Peninsula and most of tropical and subtropical Asia, and has been introduced to parts of Africa and the Pacific islands. This plant usually grows in seasonally dry tropical regions. Some sources describe it as an erect or sometimes prostrate annual herb that reaches 30 to 60 cm in height, with hairless, line-grooved stems and lance-shaped leaves that grow up to 15 cm long. Other descriptions classify it as a perennial, which grows robust, loosely branched stems 40 to 90 cm tall from a creeping rhizomatous rootstock.
