About Perrhybris pamela (Stoll, 1780)

Perrhybris pamela, commonly known as the Pamela, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Pieridae. Its distribution ranges from Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama southward to Colombia, Venezuela, Suriname, French Guiana, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. This species breeds in lowland rainforest, at altitudes between sea level and approximately 900 metres. The wingspan of Perrhybris pamela measures 66–70 mm (2.6–2.8 in). The species shows strong sexual dichromatism, and females resemble species in the tribe Heliconiini. Recorded host plants for its larvae are Capparis isthmensis and Capparis pittieri.
