About Perillus bioculatus (Fabricius, 1775)

Perillus bioculatus, commonly known as the two-spotted stink bug or double-eyed soldier bug, is an insect species that belongs to the family Pentatomidae. This species is native to North America, and has since been introduced to Eastern Europe and North India. Both the larval and adult life stages of Perillus bioculatus are specialized predators that target the eggs and larvae of the Colorado potato beetle, whose scientific name is Leptinotarsa decemlineata. An exception to this feeding behavior occurs in the first instar larvae, which feed by sucking juices from potato stems.
