About Peperomia magnoliifolia (Jacq.) A.Dietr.
Peperomia magnoliifolia, commonly called spoonleaf peperomia, is a plant species belonging to the genus Peperomia. Its native distribution extends from southern Florida and Mexico through the Caribbean to northern South America, and also includes Uruguay. This species is sometimes confused with Peperomia obtusifolia; some earlier botanists treated the two names as synonyms for the same species. Dried specimens of the two plants look very similar, but their differences are easier to observe in living individuals: Peperomia obtusifolia has waxy leaves, while Peperomia magnoliifolia has fleshy leaves. Due to this ongoing confusion, plants held in collections or sold commercially often continue to be incorrectly labeled.
