About Peperomia maculosa (L.) Hook.

Peperomia maculosa (L.) Hook. is a visually distinct species, with large, glossy dark-green leaves marked by prominent white veins. The leaves are borne on spotted petioles; mature leaves can reach 15 cm or more in length, and their undersides are pale green. Stems are 1 to 2 cm thick, and swell at the points where petioles branch off. Petioles measure 15 to 20 cm long, are covered in fine hairs, are light green with purplish-brown spotting, and have a groove along their upper surface. The plant produces solitary purplish flower spikes that are 20 to 30 cm long. These flower spikes release a faint musky scent, typically at dusk.
