About Penthicodes variegata Guérin-Méneville, 1829
Penthicodes variegata, first described by Guérin-Méneville in 1829, is a planthopper species in the subfamily Aphaeninae of the family Fulgoridae. This species is found in South-East Asia, and belongs to the subgenus Ereosoma Kirkaldy, 1906. The genus Penthicodes was formerly classified as grammatically feminine, but a 2022 revision following ICZN Article 30.1.4.4 changed its classification to masculine. This revision altered the spelling of this species' specific epithet, changing the name from variegata to variegatus.
