About Pentarhizidium orientale (Hook.) Hayata

Pentarhizidium orientale, commonly called the Oriental ostrich fern, is a fern species that is native to China, Japan, and the Himalayas. Mature individuals grow to approximately 0.6 meters (2 feet) in both height and width. This species was previously classified within the genus Matteuccia. Phylogenetic studies have since concluded that this species, along with Pentarhizidium intermedium, must be moved to the separate genus Pentarhizidium.
