About Pentanema spiraeifolium (L.) D.Gut.Larr., Santos-Vicente, Anderb., E.Rico & M.M.Mart.Ort.
Pentanema spiraeifolium grows to a height of 30 to 80 centimeters (12 to 31 inches). Its middle leaves are oblong-elliptic, 3 to 5 centimeters (1.2 to 2.0 inches) long and 1 to 2 centimeters (0.39 to 0.79 inches) wide. The base of these leaves does not wrap around the stem. Upper stem leaves are erect with a rounded base. The plant has an erect, branched stem that holds between two and twelve flowers. The outer flowers are ligulate and bright yellow, while the inner flowers are tubular and dark orange. The receptacle (the structure that attaches flowers to the stalk) is covered in distinctly curved scales. This species flowers from June through August. It is distributed across southern France, Italy, Switzerland, and the Balkans. It grows at elevations up to 700 meters (2,300 feet) above sea level, in rocky, arid, hot environments.
