About Penicillaria jocosatrix Guenée, 1852
Penicillaria jocosatrix Guenée, 1852 has a wingspan of approximately 20–30 mm. The moth has a dark purplish red-brown coloration. On its forewings, there are faint traces of a sub-basal line, an indistinct antemedial line that angles on the median nervure, and a postmedial line that angles beyond the cell, with a chocolate-colored patch below the angle. This postmedial line connects with a chocolate patch from the costa that lies inside the indistinct, angled white submarginal line. A pale streak and a slight fold run from the center of the cell to the outer margin of the forewing. The hindwings are white, with a dark spot on the cell, and their outer area is purplish brown. The underside of the wings has a prominent black spot on the cell. The eggs of this species are pale blue-green. The larva is green with dark sublateral striae. Each of its body somites has small purple spots, and a subdorsal series of larger purple spots. A small number of hairs grow from the spiracles. The larva goes through five instars before pupating. The pupa is dark brown, broadly rounded, and lacks any distinct lumps or lobes.
