About Peltigera canina (L.) Willd.

Peltigera canina has a brown to brownish-grey thallus when dry. The lobes of this lichen generally measure 10–25 mm (0.4–1.0 in) across; their upper surface has a fuzzy tomentum, particularly near the lobe margins. Peltigera canina typically grows on soil in woodlands, fields, and sandy areas. It forms an association with the cyanobiont Nostoc, a cyanobacterium that resembles the species Nostoc sphaericum and Nostoc punctiforme.
