About Pelophylax fukienensis (Pope, 1929)
Pelophylax fukienensis is a frog species that belongs to the family Ranidae. This species gets its name from Fujian province in China, which was formerly romanized as "Fukien". It can be found in the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi, and also occurs in Taiwan. Its natural habitats include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, swamps, freshwater marshes, rural gardens, heavily degraded former forest, water storage areas, ponds, irrigated land, seasonally flooded agricultural land, and canals and ditches. While populations native to Taiwan have declined strongly, the International Union for Conservation of Nature does not classify the species overall as threatened. Pelophylax fukienensis is a medium to large-sized frog: males grow up to 47 mm (1.9 inches) in length, while females reach up to 65 mm (2.6 inches) in length.
