About Pelicaria vermis (Martyn, 1784)

This species, with the scientific name Pelicaria vermis (Martyn, 1784), has a shell that reaches up to 54 mm in height and 35 mm in width. The shell is most often yellow-brown, and it is rarely plain yellow or purple. This species is endemic to the North Island of New Zealand. It lives just beneath the surface of tidal flats and off sandy beaches, and it can occasionally be found at depths as great as 90 m.
