This species can be found along the coasts of Australia, Bahrain, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Tanzania, and Thailand. Longtail seamoths are used in Chinese medicine and are also traded within the aquarium industry.
