This species is scientifically named Pedioplanis lineoocellata (Duméril & Bibron, 1839). Adult P. lineoocellata have a snout-to-vent length ranging from 4.5 to 5.5 cm (1.8 to 2.2 inches). The transparent "window" in its lower eyelid is made up of two transparent scales, which are bordered by black markings. P. lineoocellata occurs naturally in Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. This species is oviparous. Adult females lay clutches of 4 to 8 eggs, with each egg averaging 12.5 mm (0.49 in) by 9.5 mm (0.37 in). Newly hatched P. lineoocellata measure approximately 5.25 cm (2.07 in) in total length when including the tail.
