About Pedioplanis burchelli (Duméril & Bibron, 1839)

Adults of Pedioplanis burchelli reach a snout-to-vent length (SVL) of 4.5 to 5.5 centimetres, which is 1.8 to 2.2 inches. The species has highly variable coloration. Its lower eyelid is opaque, and lacks any transparent "window" scales. There are no enlarged temporal or tympanic shields. Pedioplanis burchelli is distributed in Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa. Its preferred natural habitats are savanna, shrubland, and grassland. This species is oviparous. Clutch size ranges from 4 to 6 eggs. Each oval egg measures approximately 9 mm (0.35 in) by 11 mm (0.43 in). Newly hatched individuals have a total length including the tail of about 7.2 cm (2.8 in).
