About Pedicularis bracteosa Benth.

Pedicularis bracteosa Benth., commonly known as bracted lousewort, is a deciduous perennial flowering plant. It has alternating stem (cauline) leaves that vary in shape from linear/oblong to lanceolate, and are roughly 1 to 7 centimeters long. This species has fibrous roots, and typically grows to around 1 meter in height. Its flowers are arranged in densely clustered spike racemes, and can be yellow, bronze, red, or purple. It grows naturally in western North America, where it is found in New Mexico, Colorado, Montana, mountainous areas of Washington and California, and in British Columbia. Historically, its leaves have been used as an alternative treatment for skeletal muscle relaxation.
