About Pectocarya platycarpa (Munz & Johnst.) Munz & I.M.Johnst.
Pectocarya platycarpa is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, with the common names broadfruit combseed and wide-toothed pectocarya. It is native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico, where it grows in many types of coastal and inland habitat, ranging from mountains to desert. This plant is an annual herb that produces a slender, rough-haired stem, which is generally upright to erect and reaches a maximum height of 25 centimeters. Its small, pointed linear leaves are alternately arranged and widely spaced along the stem. The inflorescence consists of a series of flowers, each growing on a curved pedicel. Each flower has small green sepals and a tiny white corolla. The fruit is a grouping of four flattened, slightly curving nutlets that are lined with thin teeth.
