About Pectocarya heterocarpa (I.M.Johnst.) I.M.Johnst.
Pectocarya heterocarpa is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, with the common names chuckwalla combseed and mixed-nut pectocarya. It is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it grows in desert, mountain, and plateau habitats, including scrub, woodland, and open areas. It is an annual herb that produces a slender, rough-haired stem, which grows either prostrate or upright to a maximum length of about 25 centimeters. Its small, pointed linear leaves are alternately arranged and widely spaced along the stem. The inflorescence is a series of flowers, with each flower growing on a curved pedicel. Each flower has small green sepals and tiny white petals. Its fruit is a group of four nutlets, each lined with comblike prickles.
