About Passer diffusus (A.Smith, 1836)

The southern grey-headed sparrow, with the scientific name Passer diffusus, is a passerine bird that belongs to the sparrow family Passeridae. Some taxonomic treatments classify it as a subspecies of the grey-headed sparrow. Its range covers savanna and woodland habitats from Angola and Zambia, extending southward into South Africa. In this region, the southern grey-headed sparrow is expanding its range, and it is kept as a caged bird, similar to its relative the white-rumped seedeater.
