Paspalum urvillei Steud. is a grass species commonly called Vasey's grass or Vasey grass. It is native to South America, and is an introduced species in parts of North America. It has also become naturalized in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, and southern Africa, including Madagascar. In Hawaii and New Caledonia where it has been introduced, it is classified as a noxious weed. It grows well in disturbed habitat, and is often found in moist areas. This is a rhizomatous perennial grass that can grow up to 2 meters tall. Its leaves reach up to 2.5 centimeters wide and have a large, noticeable ligule.
