About Paspalum repens P.J.Bergius

Paspalum repens P.J.Bergius, commonly called horsetail paspalum or water paspalum, is a grass species native to South America, Central America, and North America. This species is frequently referred to as Paspalum fluitans, but both Kew's Plants of the World Online database and the Flora of North America project treat this name as a synonym of P. repens. It is an obligate wetland species, most often found growing either submersed or floating in shallow water bodies, or along river edges. It reaches approximately one foot in height, and has lance-shaped leaves, spongy air-filled stems, and often displays a reddish tint. Its inflorescence develops as spikelets.
