About Paspalum dilatatum Poir.
This is a perennial bunch grass that forms dense, stiff clumps in the soil and spreads outward from these clumps. It can grow in a decumbent mat, or grow upright to reach a height of well over 1 meter (3 feet). Its leaves are mostly hairless, and can grow up to 35 centimeters (14 inches) long and 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) wide. Its inflorescence is split into a few branches, which are neatly lined with beadlike pairs of spikelets that range in color from green to purple.
