About Parus albiventris Shelley, 1881

The white-bellied tit, scientifically named Parus albiventris Shelley, 1881, is also classified as Melaniparus albiventris, a bird species belonging to the family Paridae. It can be found in Cameroon, Kenya, Nigeria, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Previously, the white-bellied tit was grouped with many other species in the genus Parus. It was moved to the genus Melaniparus after a 2013 molecular phylogenetic analysis showed that members of this new genus form a distinct clade.
