About Parthenocissus dalzielii Gagnep.

Parthenocissus dalzielii Gagnep. is a deciduous vine that has broad, trifoliate leaves. The species uses suction cups that excrete calcium carbonate to cling strongly to walls, sloping surfaces, and even painted concrete. It produces small, grape-like fruits that turn dark blue, nearly black, when they ripen. In cultivation, Parthenocissus dalzielii is valued for its natural climate control effects. It provides leafy shade in the summer, then sheds its leaves during the winter. This combination enables passive summer cooling and passive winter heating, which reduces energy consumption.
