About Parthenium incanum Kunth

Parthenium incanum Kunth, commonly called mariola, reaches 0.46 to 0.91 meters (1.5 to 3 feet) in both height and width. Its foliage is covered in fine hairs, giving it a grayish-white appearance. Small clusters of white flowers bloom from July through October. As a traditional medicinal plant, the Jicarilla Apache used mariola. The plant's leaves were boiled to make a solution, which was then rubbed onto a pregnant woman's abdomen to relieve discomfort. It is cultivated as an ornamental plant, used in drought-tolerant gardens, native plant gardens, and wildlife gardens.
