About Parornix anglicella (Stainton, 1850)
The wingspan of Parornix anglicella (Stainton, 1850) is 9–11 mm. The head is ochreous-whitish mixed with fuscous. The palpi are white, with the apex of the second joint and the median band of the terminal joint dark fuscous. Forewings are dark fuscous, speckled with whitish; there are numerous costal strigulae, a spot in the middle of the disc and another posterior to it, and suffused dorsal strigulae interrupted by two blackish spots, all of these markings white; there is a black apical dot; the cilia have three entire dark fuscous lines. Hindwings are grey. The larva is pale greenish-grey, with a darker dorsal line and pale spots; the head is pale greenish-brown, and the second segment has four black spots. This species is widespread across Europe, including Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Britain, Bulgaria, Croatia, Corsica, Czech Republic, Danish mainland, Estonia, Finland, French mainland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italian mainland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norwegian mainland, Poland, Portuguese mainland, Romania, central and northern Russia, Sardinia, Serbia, Sicily, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Ukraine. Outside Europe, it has been recorded from the Near East and the Nearctic realm.
