Adults of Paropsisterna cloelia are dome-shaped, and measure less than 10 millimeters in length. Their bodies are mostly orange, though some individuals are dark brown or black, with orange edges on their bodies and orange heads. Larvae range from 2 to 12 millimeters in length. They are yellow-green to olive-green in color, with dark heads. Mature larvae have thin black stripes running along their abdomens.
